HaAruga is a One-Year Film Training Program for Creators.

What does that actually mean?

It means that reality has changed: we live in a world where anyone can shoot and edit. Most people in the Western world are familiar with technology, and the technical gap between posting a story on your phone and directing a film has shrunk dramatically. Yet, many people who want to make films still don't.

 

Why is that?

In my view, it's about focus, it's about having a community, and it's about dedicating yourself. That's exactly the framework we provide. We have nothing against 3-year film schools. They suit certain people at certain times in their lives. But we're targeting different individuals.

What kind of people are we looking for?
Talented individuals with creative backgrounds, mature and ready to make films. People who enjoy gaining extensive knowledge and experience in a relatively short time. People who have something to say and want to express themselves through the cinematic medium. By the way, our program is also suitable for those with families, businesses, etc., who currently can't dedicate their entire lives to this pursuit but definitely want to make filmmaking a significant part of their lives.

What do we offer?

Rich theoretical and practical studies, professional training, a framework for creation and mentorship + equipment for producing 3 short films. All within one year, twice a week in Tel Aviv.

The truth? In practice, it's a bit more than twice a week. There are exercises and homework, film shoots that happen outside class hours, editing your projects and films, participating in your classmates' exercises and productions, etc. Our program isn't full-time, but it definitely requires a certain mental availability, primarily to receive what we have to offer. And we have a lot to offer you.

What else?

Beyond film production, we teach and practice submitting to film funds and how to send your films to festivals. So by the end of your studies, you can truly develop and grow with your filmmaking and continue to accompany your film after it's made.

​

By the way, there are other one-year film programs out there. But they're far from offering what we offer on a practical level, which is why it's important for us to select students who have the tools to take everything we have to give and grow within our program and beyond.
